These lies end up turning against them during police investigations, as they provide their attackers with proof that they are liars. Due to insufficient evidence, many rape cases are reclassified as sexual assault. With significantly lower penalties, victims suffer from a sense of injustice and even impunity. Should penalties for sexual assault be increased?
